It’s important for potential applicants to note that WAS does not provide work permits. If you are not a Canadian citizen, you must already possess your own work permit or have permanent residency status in Canada to apply for a career position with us. This ensures a smooth transition into our team and compliance with local employment regulations.

For those interested in instructor roles, we hold our educational standards in high regard. Applicants for these positions are required to have either a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience or a graduate degree in a field pertinent to the role they are applying for plus additional experience. This ensures our team is equipped with the depth of knowledge and practical expertise necessary to deliver unparalleled education and adventure experiences to our students.

Our Programs


Marketing Media Manager

This program is designed to equip students with the necessary skills and knowledge for a successful career in the dynamic field of Marketing and Media. This curriculum includes seven 45-hour courses and a practical co-op work placement, students will spend a year immersing themselves in both creative and industry-specific studies.  

Mountain Sport Technician

The program is designed to impart essential skills for those aiming to join the summer and winter outdoor tourism sectors, focusing on a range of practical abilities including snow safety, skiing, snowboarding, trail building, survival, and winter camping. 

Adventure Tourism Winter

This program is crafted to equip participants with the fundamental skills required for a career in the winter outdoor tourism industry, focusing on crucial areas such as snow safety, skiing, snowboarding, guiding, leadership, survival, and winter camping. 

Adventure Tourism Summer

This program focuses on critical skills such as safety protocols, mountain biking, introductory climbing techniques, backcountry leadership, and wilderness first aid certification, setting the foundation for opportunities in the outdoor adventure field. Designed for individuals seeking comprehensive training and backcountry experiences, this program offers the chance to learn new skills and techniques. 

Bike Guide Training

This comprehensive program includes an 80-hour Wilderness First Responder certification, on-trail mechanics training, PMBI Level 1 instructor certification, and a specialized course focused on the nuances of guiding clients through challenging terrains. The program culminates in a 50-hour cooperative work experience, allowing students to apply their skills in a real-world guiding role. 

Ski/Snowboard Guide Training

Our program is designed for true backcountry guiding. This program offers 157.5 hours of full-time instruction over six months, focusing on expanding students’ backcountry abilities and paving the way for a career in guiding. It’s an immersive, on-snow experience where students gain extensive knowledge in backcountry skills, including route planning, crevasse rescue, avalanche safety training, and guiding techniques.
