The penultimate course in the Bike Guide Program, teaching the fundamentals of backcountry guiding in a variety of mountain bike situations. Students learn the skills to prepare for mountain biking in the backcountry. Focus for this course is on leadership abilities and adaptability on the trail to prepare students for potential guiding careers.

Students enrolled in the Bike Guide program with an advanced level of biking on blue and single black diamond trails comparable to those in BC, Canada.
- General guiding principles and understanding of group dynamics
- Coaching riders to improve skills and create progression
- Briefing clients both pre and post
- Route planning and trail selection
- Lead guiding vs sweep guiding
- Trail etiquette, permits and permission
- Risk management including liability, insurance and participant waiver/medical forms
- Leave No Trace for mountain biking
- Equipment needs and emergency planning techniques
Possess the skills to feel prepared to guide clients in a backcountry environment up to an advanced level understanding route planning, trail etiquette and the different roles of guides on the trail.
