For Summer 2026 WAS is offering our Mechanic Development Program – specifically tuned to young adults who are interested in bike mechanics – whether pursuing a summer job, a career, or deeper knowledge for personal racing and riding. This course is modeled on our Professional Mechanic Course, covering 10 days of hands-on training and follows the Cytech training process – Theory 1, Technical 1, and Technical 2. Graduates will learn the full suite of skills to service and maintain bicycles, with an emphasis on enhancing employability and gaining the experience needed to bridge the gap into a first-time job in a shop.

REQUIREMENTS
Basic understanding of bicycles and terminology.

  • Introduction to disc brakes and hydraulic bleeding

  • Introduction to Wheel building
  • Suspension Theory and 50hr Maintenance
  • Develop your professional bike mechanic skills and gain the experience needed for working in bike shops. Understand the theory and practical applications of service procedures to ensure accurate results when servicing a wide range of bicycle makes and models.
  • Students who graduate will receive Cytech Theory 1, Technical 1 and Technical 2 certifications.
  • Graduates are eligible to book space during Open Shop Days to continue developing their skills.
