The Ski/Snowboard Guide Level 1 course follows the ACMG/IFMGA curriculum and introduces students to the basic skill sets required for a successful backcountry mountaineering experience.
Students are exposed to avalanche safety, backcountry travel preparations, basic ski mountaineering and rescue skills.

- Route planning for ski/snowboard single day trips
- National and international guiding standards
- Basic backcountry skiing technique and etiquette
- Manage backcountry terrain
- Basic avalanche rescue skills
As per ACMG course specification the course outcome is:
- Students will be able to identify routes for ski/snowboard single day trips
- Identify foundational skills required by ACMG/IFMGA and other international guiding standards relevant to the industry
- Possess knowledge of basic backcountry skiing technique and etiquette
- Ability to manage terrain and complete an accent and decent in backcountry terrain
- Demonstrate basic avalanche rescue skills
- Knowledge of basic backcountry gear
- Complete Canadian Avalanche 1 Certification
