The Ski/Snowboard Guide Level 2 course follows the ACMG/IFMGA curriculum educating students on skills required for a successful backcountry mountaineering experience.
Students immerse in avalanche training, route and terrain selection, trip planning and navigation, advanced rescue techniques, client management as well as the business of managing a guide operation.

- Planning equipment and routes for multi day trips
- Rope climbing skills, anchors and glacier rescue
- Customer service management
- Advanced backcountry skiing technique and etiquette
- Terrain evaluation, hazard mitigation, risk management
- Advanced avalanche rescue skills
As per ACMG course specification the course outcome is:
- Complete Canadian Avalanche 2 Certification
- Students will be able to select, utilize and set up guided client’s standard backcountry equipment
- Plan and forecast routes for ski/snowboard guided trips
- Demonstrate general rope and climbing skills as they pertain to guided ski trips for guide clients
- Convey an understanding of customer service in relation to the ski guiding business and clientele
- Demonstrate and interpret regional, national, and international guiding restrictions and regulations as well as permit and land management issues
- Gain foundational skills required by ACMG/IFMGA and other international guiding standards relevant to the industry
- Possess and demonstrate knowledge in basic backcountry skiing technique and etiquette
- Generate risk management protocols and ensure safety for clients
- Demonstrate advanced avalanche rescue techniques
