This course can be used as Wilderness First Responder (WFR) Recertification, which is open to graduates of any wilderness-based first aid training that was at least 64 hours long and completed within 3 years of the proposed recertification option.
But students can also upgrade from their valid 40 hour wilderness first aid certification to the Wilderness First Responder (WFR) certification by participating in this course.

- Appropriate for Wilderness First Responder (WFR) recertification students that hold a valid WFR card. (Students with expired WFR certification ARE NOT eligible to register).
- Additionally anyone who has a valid 40 hour wilderness First Aid certification can upgrade to the Wilderness First Responder (WFR) certification.
This course includes patient management for extended time periods when medical assistance is out of reach and includes essential principles and skills required to assess and manage medical problems in isolated and extreme environments.
Successful graduates of this course will receive Wilderness Medical Associates’ Wilderness First Responder, Anaphylaxis, and BLS/Healthcare Provider-level CPR certifications.
